Nǐ hǎo

This video explores disconnect as a Chinese adoptee through the Chinese language.

The sentences spoken in the video are from personal experiences during my Summer 2019 trip to China. The idea is for viewers to see, hear and feel. This is achieved in several ways. The sentences and audio vary by being correctly paired, mixed with Chinese-English, Mandarin only, Cantonese only, Cantonese-Mandarin, tonally, and grammatically correct/incorrect with the use of Google Translate. Together, the sentences gradually become intertwined. The audio becomes jumbled together at the end to create an overwhelming feeling. 

Nature’s Palette

Nature's Palette is a Public Art Commission for the Hines Company Video Wall Installation. The project involved creating visual storytelling and imagery of Houston, including its surrounding natural areas, to provide tenants a daily dose of beauty and relaxation.

The video appears on a 32ft x 18 ft 4K screen in Enterprise Plaza located at 1100 Louisiana St. in Houston, TX.
